We are an organized group of retired teachers who taught or live in Putnam or other nearby counties in Indiana. Any retired teacher, administrator, or surviving spouse who is receiving a pension from the Indiana State Teachers Retirement fund (ISTRF) may become a member by payment of annual dues.
PURPOSE
The purposes of this association are (1) to improve the status of all retired teachers; (2) to help retired teachers maintain identity with the teaching profession through volunteer services; (3) to encourage active educators to prepare for retirement; and (4) to cooperate with the IRTA, ISTA, and the NRTA, a division of AARP, in promoting the welfare of retired teachers in Indiana.

SEPTEMBER 12
Our speaker will be Robert Kraft, State President of IRTA. He will be discussing pension security.
OCTOBER 1
Lucy Weiland will share some of her experiences as a CASA advocate. We will also begin bringing articles for the Non-food Program run by the Episcopal Church.
NOVEMBER 14
Following tradition, our program will be the Greencastle Classics, under the direction of Carrie Hamilton.
MARCH 12
Donald Metzger, our district 4 representative, will be our guest and share some news from other groups in our district. Also, be prepared to play some "Junk Food Bingo".
APRIL 9
Andrew Thomas, Executive Director of IRTA, is tentatively scheduled to bring us up to date on legislative measures.
MAY 14
We will introduce our scholarship winner, and learn more about his/her plans in the field of education. We will also bring articles for the non-food Program.
